injectors for my 4.7 stroker
So I have a 4.7 Stroker. Its in a 1998 XJ... apparently the 98's come with 23lb injectors. is there a need to upgrade the injectors... I believe the compression ratio on the jeep is 8.5 to 1. When i accelerate had sometimes i feel as though the motor kinda surges through the RPM band. otherwise the motor runs flawlessly to me... any ideas?

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
I have a 96 that had the same 49psi fuel rail and 23.2# gray tops. For my 4.6, I am running mid 90's LT1 injectors that are rated 24#@43.5psi, 25.5#@49psi, and I feel that I could make use of 27#@49psi. If you have access to an obd2 scanner, you'll see that your long term fuel trims are in the double digit positives due to the fuel the pcm has to add to compensate for the additional air in each cylinder. The closer to zero those fuel trims are, the better match the injectors you have. If you had a wideband o2, you'd see how your air-fuel ratios are. At wide-open-throttle, you want the afrs to be in the mid-high 12s:1. If you are in the 13-15s, or higher, you are not making the power you could be and could be dangerously lean. Simple map adjusters can enrichen that open loop wide-open throttle area.

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
They were too large for me, but I have a 60psi rail. If yours is 49psi you may be fine. My 27lb injectors are currently for sale as well.

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
I'm looking at ordering this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-240024/ for the build I'm working on. According to Summit Racing they replace the 24# injectors that Ford Racing discontinued.
Anyone have experience with these? Know of a better option or equivalent option for less money?

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
Without knowing what the specs are of those injectors it is hard to say 100% one way or the other. You may want to contact Summit to see who makes those for them and what the rated flow rate and pressure are. If you can get the flow in cc that is much better than lb/hr due to rounding errors.
From my experience trying to get information from Summit about their rebranded parts is very rarely successful... Good luck

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
well good news... I got the injectors... they are ford 24lb injectors and i could tell a big difference over stock... from idling smoother to pulling harder they helped... so now the bad news they were not 27lb injectors... Fuel Injector Connection who is the seller i bought them from off ebay labeled them as 27lb injectors for jeep strokers... but when i got them they had taken a dremel tool or such and ground off the parts number thus making it harder for the buyer to realize they were just 24lb ford injectors... I will be contacting them tomorrow about this issue... just be aware of this seller their ebay name is fuelinjectionconnection.

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
Kapper, those summit injectors look exactly like the 6-hole LT1 injectors I'm running, rated 24#@43.5psi. I got 8 used, ultrason'd, new filter baskets, for $60.

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
Gradon,
I'm kind of a newby to the stroker building. What are the "6-hole LT1 injectors" used in, or are they aftermarket? Are these comperable to the 24lb Accel injectors ACC-150124? I get everything back from the machine shop next week so I hoping to order this and the cam kit in time to begin building next week. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My Stroker (1997) has been running with 24lib/hr Ford injectors without any problems.

Re: injectors for my 4.7 stroker
The LT1 was the chevy 350 used in early-mid 90's Vettes, Impalla SS, and Camaro SS. Instead of one big hole spraying gas, there are 6 small holes. The bad about this injector is that it is a two piece metal design. I'd recommend the Ford/Bosch all plastic blue injectors with 4 holes that are rated at 24#@43.5psi, which will be 25.5#@your 98's 49psi. You also want ev1 connection injectors, not ev6. I believe the Fords you are looking for are considered gen 3.

I have 1999 WJ. Which injectors should I use on 4.6L Modified "poor man's" stroker? I guess I'll have to change connectors, anyway two of mine need to be replaced due to the fact that they are broken.

Accel 24lb'ers would work great but you'd need EV1 to EV6 adapters (cheap).darkcorp wrote:I have 1999 WJ. Which injectors should I use on 4.6L Modified "poor man's" stroker? I guess I'll have to change connectors, anyway two of mine need to be replaced due to the fact that they are broken.
