1990 YJ ECM.

Post by jimzamp »

I have installed a 4.7 into my 1990 YJ. I will be running a non smog Motorcraft 2100 carb(Gronk performance) as well as a MSD distributor with the correct MSD ignition control box. Complete rewire with a Ron Francis wiring harness eliminating the bulkhead connector.I also plan to eliminate the factory ECM under the dash as well as the small ignition module under the washer bottle in engine compartment. Wiring in all new aftermarket gauges(mostly mechanical).Question? Is there any function of the origional ECM that I have overlooked. Golen engines told me I don't need it anymore but I just was thinking about the charging system. Can I run original alternator or should I go to a one wire.I have run them in my hot rods and the work fine but in the jeep I need the charging to come in at lower RPMs (something the one wire in not good at.)Thank for any info.
