I did however take it a step further by using an actual performance coil pack. My set up is a Davis United ignition screamin demon coil (part number 31740) msd 8.5mm wires and msd spark plugs gapped to .05. I’ve had it on for about a week now and there are 0 problems. Runs super smooth, starts right up, better throttle response, bit more giddy up through out the rpms, and I’m actually getting about 1-1.5mpg gain. The coil recommended running a .065 gap so I have a bit more experimentation to do. Also recommend paring it with 24lb/hr 12 hole injectors from jeepinjectors.com for the better spray pattern. I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ and this setup runs flawlessly
Hey Greeneyedman97 - I am glad you posted this, I was looking to do this on my 2000 TJ since it is about the same price as a new Mopar coil rail. Good find on the JK coil pack, it's nice to know I don't have to pay extra for the viper kit with the extra coil pack I don't need. I verified with Performance Distributors that the coil pack for the JK is the exact same one used in the Viper kit in case anyone else wants to know. What I wanted to know is where you mounted the coil, all pictues I have seen have been on XJs and I wasn't sure where would be the best place in the TJ engine bay. Any pictures you have would be great!
