Best way to protect ECM from heat: shield or wrap?

Post by nicpaige »

I'm having a hard start issue after my stroker is fully up to temp. It fires up first crank when cold. Just for giggles I swapped out the ECM that was heat soaked with my spare which was cold and it seemed to start quicker but still not as quick as a cold start. I know heat is a detriment to electronics so I figure why not try to protect it. I do not want to relocate it but thought about wrapping it in thermal shield or making a heat shield for it since the air box is no longer in the vehicle. Which do you think would offer more protection, a shield or wrap? I have also purchased a wrap kit for the injectors and fuel rail in case the hard start is fuel/heat related.

I would probably try a DEI gold wrap first. Maybe some hood vents to let the hot engine bay air out as well.
