oil leak from front crank seal

Post by rammit11 »

hi, was wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of changing the balancer seal in the timing cover with the engine in place. What if anything has to be removed to gain the needed access to remove and install the balancer? Is there any specific manufacturer of puller/remover that works better than another? Thanks for the help.

On my XJ I used the large kit that Advance auto rents. Just remove the skid, under engine fabric thing and the belt. IIRC the installer comes close to the front subframe but it works. Lock the crank some how so it doesn't rotate. I use the rope in the spark plug hole on the compression stroke trick.
