Stroker Starting problems

Post by BlackHawk18 »

I went to fire up the stroker for the first time and nothing... it doesnt crank, all i hear is click. I have swapped relays, and it is a new starter. I have power, the gauges seem to act normal. When I turn the key, all lights/ radio comes on but when I try and turn it over my radio turns off?

Help :frustrated:

This sounds like a power problem. Not enough Juice for the starter? Charge the battery?
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
You're lucky that hundred shot of CAPS LOCK didn't blow the welds on the forum!!

Could be a bad ground cable. Take a jumper cable and hook one clamp to ground on battery and then the other end clamp to the block and then try it.

I have no breaks in the wire from my starter to the pcm. I am not getting getting power to the terminal wire on the starter. I have installed a new CPS and I have tested my NSS, it tested fine. I have swapped relays, fuel pump comes on, I have signal at my distributer and I am also still not getting spark....
Help..

It's an automatic.
I have looked at all the fuses, I bought new relays.
I have tested to see if there are any volts at the case on the starter and I got .7v (is that good or bad?)
I am getting 12.6v to the positive terminal on the starter
New CPS, pick up coil, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs

Help please! I am ready to blow it up!

sorry to hear about your problems. I have a couple of suggestions ,don't know if you tried any of these yet. My first one would be to if possible pull the starter from the engine with it wired in and see if it engages. You say the starter is new, correct? if so I would take it back to where I bought it and have them test it to make sure that it is working, not the first time new parts have been bad out of the box.

Honestly friend its not uncommon for them to have a flat spot in the starter. Roll it back two feet and tap a few times with a hammer then start it up. I've owned 3 starters with eventually a flat spot.

hi, did you ever find an answer as to what was the cause of the problem? I just had a similar thing happen to mine ,had it in the garage for a couple of days went to start it and nothing but the click click of the starter , radio played fine etc. I took the battery back to where I bought it(only 2 years old) , they tested it and found a bad cell. put the new battery in and everything was normal.
