What year is my crank case?

Post by Uncle Dude »

I bought a 90 wrangler with a 4.0 in it, the number between #2 and 3 cylinder is stamped 002CLI3 on spark plug side on the machined surface, and 3235444 cast in the block under the intake. :cheers:

from what I'm gathering from 002CLI3 is
0 = 2000
02 = feb
c = 2 barrel, but it is fuel injected [ I may be reading this wrong ]
l = 232
3 = 3rd day

EF3235444 don't match anything :?:

I read it as 1990, February, 258ci 2v, 13th day.
3235444 is the casting # for a '83-'90 258 block.
It is PORT injected??

x2 on IH 392's read on this. "C" was for 258/4.2l and "M" was for 243/4.0l. Not sure where you're getting the "L" from?
If you have the fuel injection, someone put it on the 258 (could have been the Mopar retrofit or DIY), or you have the 4.0l head and fuel injection. Now it would be good to know if you have the 2686 RENIX head and FI, or the 7120 head with OBD1......or even a later head and system.

See if you can find the casting # on the head and post it, I'm curious too.

where can I find the casting # on the head?
The intake manifold is part# is 5300235, with 11596 under it if that helps.
I'm seeing a solid L as the 5th character on the block??

The casting number on the head is usually on the top of the intake/exhaust flange just outside the edge of the valve cover.
