4.0L 0630 head intake/exhaust manifold gasket

Post by hoghunter »

Does anyone know what intake/exhaust manifold gasket fits a 4.0L 0630 head?

I currently have two gaskets (one Fel-Pro MS 93094 and one that came with a new exhaust manifold) and on both of them, the intake ports are out of place (see pics below). I've compared the gaskets I have to Fel-Pro MS 94790, Victor Reinz MS 16315 and MS 16120, as well as Mopar 53010238, gaskets and all of them have nearly identical port placements, although slightly different cutout shapes, none of which seem to match my head.

The Felpro MS 93094 is for a 0331 head as is the Victor MS 16315. The others should be for the earlier heads. The more horizontal ports are for the 0331, and more vertical ports are for the earlier heads. Just use which even one doesn't hang into the port and seals to both the head and manifold surface.

That's the issue... both MS 93094 and MS 94790 gaskets (along with all the Victor Reinz and even the Mopar) over hang the ports. MS 93094 obstructs the the exhaust ports as well as the intake ports (slightly), MS 94790 obstructs the intake ports but clears the exhaust ports.

I've noticed some gaskets over lap into the port on the head slightly. However, if you compare where the gasket sits on a stock unmodified intake manifold that over lap is inconsiquenmtial, especially if the gasket over lap is on the bottom of the port. Major exhaust over lap is because you have the wrong gasket for the head. Modifying a gasket is not a problem either except with the MLS gaskets for the 0331 head.

Personally I like the gaskets with the ring around the exhaust ports.. just make sure the rings fit on the header flange and don't hang over.

Victor 16132 is the one I use, your header with crack out long before the gasket ever gives up.
