Just curious to what kind of gas mileage yall are getting on these six bangers? I know my stockish mildly modified 4.0 is a gas HOG with only a 3inch lift on 31s ... I haven't got any real numbers but guessing I'm well under 15mpg city driving is this normal?
I'm in a 97 xj with 250,000+, on the ticker ,curious what setups yall are running and what mileage your getting?
Thanks
gas milage

Re: gas milage
My comanche is turbocharged. If I drive easily I can get 19-22 mpg out of it. It has 300k on the ticker.
boosted Comanche on megasquirt, 8.90"s in the 1/8th. getting faster one step at a time!!

Re: gas milage
I averaged about 14 mpg pulling a 16' travel trailer from Tucson to Idaho and back with my '90 with 4.7L Renix. That's the same I got with the stock engine, but of course the stroker takes less time going uphill...

Re: gas milage
My 4.7L Renix Stroker gets around 12 MPG's in town and if I am lucky around 14 on the highway. I didn't build it to get good gas mileage though!
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
You're lucky that hundred shot of CAPS LOCK didn't blow the welds on the forum!!

Re: gas milage
Thats disappointing news ,I just. Wish these motors were a little more efficient! Oh well I guess that's the trade off for them running forever!
I still think (hope) the stroker with new gaskets and bearings ect. Will net me better mpg's than I'm getting with my tired 4.0

Stock 225-15's, 3.55, mild build= 15.7mpg work commute (3 miles each way), 17.7 mpg on recent 25 mile rural drives over the last 10 days.
Just over 6,000 miles on the build and mpg has improved about 1 mpg since last year.
It was 1-2 mpg lower during the winter as well.

4.7L, 30" tires, 3.56 gears, 6 speed manual, low octane gas
15000km on the engine since stroked
After a few weeks of fine tuning, i got a solid 21mpg heavy city trafic. haven't had a chance to check highway but I have high hopes.
