Socket for driver's side rear most head bolt?

Post by SilverXJ »

I have two sockets to put my head bolts on. One deep well which works fine for all but the left rear most under the XJ's cowl. It is too tall to fit on top of the bolt and under the cowl. I have a regular 12 point socket that I use on that one, but it means that I can't engage the torque wrench's 1.2 drive 100%. I have to have it backed out past the ball for locking.... which means that one day it will slip off at 150 ft lbs and I will end up taking some skin off... so, what socket do the XJ guys us for that one bolt?

I used a deep socket with a 3/8 drive. I was able to get the smaller 3/8 torque wrench under the firewalls lip with the deep socket. It was tricky but it works. And i hope you were egzagerating the 150ft #'s
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
You're lucky that hundred shot of CAPS LOCK didn't blow the welds on the forum!!
