The 340 HD2 at Summit has a few more parts/changes the most important is the ability to stay in 1st gear when shift into 1-2.

I'm not sure how the TCM would react to that, but it is obviously a highly desirable feature.

20 years ago I tried to install a kit in my syclone. Never again. One of the ball bearings dropped out, not fun. The kit is simple enough but all these springs, drilling, pistons, ball bearings there is many places to make just one mistake. Have a trans shop do it along with a filter and fluid change. Best spent money. Advice from experience.

I've done them a few times before and never had a problem.

Reviving a blast from the past with a question. Can this mod be done with trans in car? I bought a new converter when I swapped my engine out and this one seems even slower to shift than the last. I was hoping for more firm shifts, looks like a shift kit may be the only answer. Any negatives to this modification?

Yes, you just need to drain and drop the pan and remove the valve body. Watch out for springs and pistons and remember where they and the bolts go.

I made it with trans in car without problems also. The shifts are now quicker and smoother. Only 1 to 2 with low speed are a little bit more notable. The best thing is the 1-2 lock - so when you put the shifter in 1-2 position the trans will not shifts into 2.

Do either of you know the difference between the two kits TransGo offers? It would be great if you could keep it from shifting into OD on the dyno.

It won't even up shift to 2 at red line? How did your transmission behave previously in 1-2?

no, it will stay in 1 full "locked" so when you release the throttle the engine will brake the car
previosly it has shifted to second gear. I really did not like it in a very steep uphill ride.
