Thanking Users Posts

Post by Muad'Dib » April 1st, 2009, 11:36 am

Thanks to amcinstaller for the idea!

I have added a thanks mod to this board.

Its very simple... if you feel a user deserves a thanks for something that they have contributed, than you can press the "Thanks" icon that looks like this:
Image

Once you do so, your profile is updated with how many thanks you have given. The recepient of the "Thanks" that you gave also gets their profile updated with how many thanks they have received. Example:

Lastly, the post that you thank the user for gets updated with a list of users who have thanked that particualar post. Here is a direct link to an example:
viewtopic.php?p=9267#p9267

I hope you guys find this usefull!

As always please let me know if you have any problems with this modification.

Is there any way to take back a thanks? I know that sounds really mean but it's not what you think! Twice now I have accidentaly clicked thanks on posts that I did not want to thank. They are posts that really wouldn't warrant a thanks either so the person is going to look at it and think, "why the hell did RAPTORFAN85 thank me for THAT?"

Thanks
Jake

There is a way to remove the thanks, however i decided to not have that option available.

I may add a "Are you sure" prompt to the thanks button to limit these kinds if issues.

Id say for now just send me a private message with links to the posts that you gave thanks for, and i can remove it.

There is now a confirmation window that comes up. So if you accidently hit the thanks button, you also have to confirm it. This will hopefully prevent accidental thanks.

Where might I find for what posts I received "thanks"?

Proud owner of many stroker parts, that have not yet spontaneously assembled themselves.

Its not currently an option. Unless you go through every single post you have made and see if your were given thanks on it or not.

I want to add an option to where you can click on the number of thanks received, and it will take you to a page with the list of posts you were thanked for. Unfortunately, at the moment that is beyond my php knowledge. I have asked for some help on the matter, so we will see if that is ever an option.
