1994 Head on 1998 Block?

Post by Billygoat »

Will a 1994 cylinder head work with a 1998 engine block? I have a rebuilt 1994 head and 1998 engine I was planning to turn into a stroker but am reading something about later engines using dowels to align the head. Is this a compatible combo?

As long as you remove the 2 block dowels from the deck surface of your block there is no reason why you couldn’t run the earlier 7120 HO head casting. The 7120 head will have a 1/8 npt temperature sender provision that you’ll have to plug.
