Camshaft and Roller Rockers

Post by rlinares40 »

I was Wondering if I would have valve clearance issued with a cam and 1.7 ratio roller rockers? Below are the two items:

Cam:

Roller rocker:

Would different sized push rods be required in a stock engine?

I had the similar Crane 753905 in my original stroker build. I suggest you go with the Harland Sharp 1.6 ratio roller rockers to avoid any clearance issues between the rocker arms and either the valve cover or the valve spring retainers. The 753901 cam was designed for 1.6 ratio rocker arms.
Your stock pushrods may be fine but I suggest you buy a pushrod length checker tool to verify that, since the base circle diameter of the Crane cam may not be the same as that of the stock cam.

The parts for my stroker are finally arriving and picking up a 258 crankshaft this Friday. I saw a kit from Clifford performance that would change my 06 FI jeep to a carb jeep. Any thoughts? Their gains/claims seem pretty promising.

You may be able to extract more power with a carb set up but you wouldn't have the same driveability, gas mileage, emissions, and cold starting ability that you'd have with EFI.
If it was a race vehicle I'd say go for it but otherwise I'd recommend you stick with your existing reliable EFI set up.
