Injectors

Post by chrismacc »

Hi there, first of all my names Christopher and in no way am I a mechanic (actually a surgeon from costa rica) so you can guess my knowledge here is practically null. The advantage is I have a very good mechanic he was even trained in the states working on monster trucks or what not.
So heres the deal, I have a 4.0 renix thats busted, bought a 4.2 and am using the cranckshaft and conecting rods from the 4.2.

Doing all the rest of the engine and buying the parts, I came up with a question....my injectors. I upgraded to the bosch 0280155746 which made a huuuuuuge diference, but have no idea if these work for my new stroker projec.

I'd really appreciate any help on the matter, just remember I really have no idea how a motor works the newest of the newbies understands more than me hahahahahaha, thank you very much!

I'll assume that you have an '87-'90 XJ with a stock Renix ECU and 39psi fuel system.
Here's a small list of Bosch injectors to choose from:

Bosch 0280155712 19.4lb/hr @ 43.5psi
Bosch 0280155703 22.7lb/hr @ 43.5psi
Bosch 0280155715 23.7lb/hr @ 43.5psi
Bosch 0280155849 24.5lb/hr @ 43.5psi (same as Ford XF1E-A5B)
Bosch 0280155784 26.3lb/hr @ 43.5psi

Since it looks like you're just building a mild Renix stroker, I think the 703 injectors will be suitable for your needs.

The stock 90lph fuel pump will do fine.

Those are low numbers but there could be a number of factors at play. Big heavy tires being the biggest one.
Can you post the full dyno graph to get a clearer picture of what's going on?

You don't need to upgrade the stock fuel pump to run 24lb injectors.
