I just got my crank and rods in the block and spinning (mild 4.7 with 9.5cr and a factory cam for now). My next step is the cam install. My block is a 93 so I have the old spring and pin that keeps the cam from walking on the front side. Is this what I should be using when I put it all back together? Should I be replacing the spring with a new oe replacement? A stronger spring? Something else? Ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Cam retention spring or solid pin?

Re: Cam retention spring or solid pin?
If you are using a stock or mild r.v. cam the spring and pin is sufficient. I would buy a replacement pin and spring kit.

x2
It's been proven to be a highly reliable set up on the original 4.0 engine so it shouldn't be any different in a stroker.

Re: Cam retention spring or solid pin?
Makes sense to me. I'll order a fresh spring and pin if I can find it. At least until I do a different cam. I'm not certain if a new cam will come anytime soon because I really have the idea in my head that bigger valves and a turbo sound like a lot more fun. Oh boy, when I step into bad ideas I really jump in.
