Comp Cams 163-000-5

Post by TR1Hemi »

So comp has a 99-01 cam core, numbered 163-000-5, but have they actually made anything with it, and is it a wide lobe?

Yes Comp has that cam core with the later style cam drive nose. It has the narrow lobe like the rest of their cams, but I and others have explained that it has no effect on camshaft durability.

I do carry that camshaft in one grind that is nitrided.
The one disadvantage of the later style cam is there isn't a double roller timing set that is currently made for it.
For that reason most of us choose to run the early style cam

Thanks,
Russ
