piston dishing

okay, probly answered a bazillion times already, but when building a stroker, why dish the pistons? is it strictly emissions, compatibility, or is there performance gains to be had. the obvious enlarging of the combustion chamber makes sense, but is there more to it?

Means to achieve a desired compression ratio, if you want to run on regular grade pump gasoline, you will be watching cr closely and picking your cam carefully.

Lowers the compression ratio while keeping a tight quench.
You could just use a thicker head gasket to open up the compression ratio but you would reduce quench.

If youre looking for a piston to dish safely you can go with the Silvolite 2229, mine have been done to 30cc, and my shop says theyre ok as far as thickness left for safe operation.

I'd be happy to do a set for you. I machine them to whatever cc dish you'd like and semi polish the top to help with pinging. $70 plus shipping. One thing though, it's your responsibility to determine if the web is thick enough to be safe. I'll let you know what the thickness will be before I machine them, then machine them once you OK it.
