did i find a crank?

i was at the local junk yard yesterday and they got in a '77 CJ with a straight 6. is my stroker crank in there? how can i be sure what motor is in it?

That's a potential candidate--it should have 12 counterweights and a casting number of 3214723.

Check with the casting numbers in the FAQ's, Should have a usable crank if it is the original motor. Lots of motor swapping has been done since 1976.

know where i can get get block casting numbers so i can make sure its a 258 before i start wrenching?

according to the chart on that page CJs had either 232s or 258s from '75 to '79. was the 232 very common in CJs or will it be hit or miss?

Most I have seen had the 258, always check casting numbers!

i like that word "most". it gives me hope. i shall continue to keep my hopes up. cant beat $29.99 for a crank and i have a core from an olds block i have.
