HELP with stroker

Post by Emmerrrrr »

Im building a stroker with little knowledge with what these numbers mean... I got my 94 block at the machine shop.. im looking at either a .040 or .060 bore we haven't got it done yet to see what it needs. but the guy never did a stroker before out of a jeep and needed to see the motor to get the see where the piston height was....so I was gathering up all the information to relay to him so far I gathered up a stock 94 HO head. remanufactured 258 connecting rods. casting no. 707. crank out of a 88 YJ 258 .020/.030, 24lb injectors a 64 mm. throttle body comeing from leigh machining. what else is all needed here. what all is invovled I appreciate all help thanks

Whats this going into? Can you source parts from the vehicle the strokers going into while your slowly building this motor? It's hard to say what you need If we don't know if is carb or mpi. If its MPI it would probably need a map adjuster to get the fuel curve respectable. As for the boring I wouldn't just set in stone what bore you want. Find out what it needs. I doubt to many motors need to be bored 60 for a rebuild. Personally I wouldn't bore that far because it might run too warm but im sure many have had no problem with theirs. Although, many have started to figure out that your gauge may say its running at the right temp but the back cylinder will be running a tad bit warmer than all the rest, possibly causing some of the premature engine failures. My dad said he used to have a standard 350 chevy in his toyota land cruizer which ran great but it was old and he rebuild it using all the same parts except for new 60 pistons with rebuild kit. It ran great afterward except he was plagued with overheating on the trail that wasn't there before. You said you were going to get the leigh performance TB...me too...when I finally put down my jeep for the transplant but I think its a 63mm bore. Hope this helps, im sure others will chim in with their opinion.

Sounds like you have a nice gathering of parts so far. I do think 63mm is the most that stock tbs can be bored to safely. You can make an adjustable map to tweak the injector duty cycle should it be rich/lean at >70% throttle.

Sounds like your in a big hurry to build this stroker

Whats it going into?

What's it's intended use...race, street camping, rock crawling exc.

You need to decide how you want it to perform. before, you get to far and have the wrong parts bought or machinated, that you my not us.

Umm, if you search good enough, you can find someone that'll sell you a 63mm TB for like 60-90+core--I definitely wouldn't pay more than $100 for one($350 is outrageous, not reasonable).

I'll bore your stock throttle body to 62mm for $65 shipped back to you, 63mm gets pretty thin on a stock throttle body. I'm not saying it can't be done, just thin. If you want to see pictures of my work, check out page 3 of http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... p?f=9&t=20. I also do Renix throttle bodies to 61mm, see http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... &sk=t&sd=a. I also made the spacer.
