I got my 4.6 stroker dropped in my jeep today. We messed with it all day and it started up once and ran well. Then it died and would not start back up with out having to keep the throttle half open and would run like crap and misfire anyway and die again.
This is my set up!
4.6L Low-buck, low CR "rockcrawler"
Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank
Jeep 4.2L 5.875" rods
Silvolite UEM-2229 +0.040" bore pistons
Increase piston dish volume to 30cc
Mill block deck .025
stock 24lb/hr injectors with stock 39psi FPR for
Every thing else is stock. Im I missing something or what is going on. Im confused cause it ran great once but then died and would not run well again.

Re: 4.6 stroker
OBDI or OBDII?
Any codes?
Are you sure the distributor is properly indexed?
Double check all of the vacuum lines/fittings.
What is the fuel pressure at the rail?

Re: 4.6 stroker
check the block ground strap and other electrical connections, maybe something rattled loose after initial start up.

Re: 4.6 stroker
My Jeep would still occasionally start with the bad coil--it didn't completely die.

Re: 4.6 stroker
Why would a "no start" diagnostic be any different on a stroker then a normal 4.0???
I would start with making sure your TPS is good (maybe swap it out with a spare .. or slap one in from a junkyard).
I would also try another CPS. Sometimes even unplugging it and plugging it back in will cure a no-start problem (if its the CPS thats causing it). That will tell you right away what needs to be replaced.

If it feels right, then STROKE it!
You're lucky that hundred shot of CAPS LOCK didn't blow the welds on the forum!!

Re: 4.6 stroker
I'd say it's almost guaranteed that the distributor is at least one tooth off. Here's my write-up on how to correct it:FrankZ wrote:
