Vehicle Year:
1985
Vehicle Make:
AMC
Vehicle Model:
Eagle wgn
Vehicle Modifications:
High Altitude car (from CO), so it has 3:54 gearing rather than the standard 2.84. Presently it has 258 and I am putting a 7120 head on it. I have a 4.0L engine that I will be putting the 258 crank into using 4.0 rods and forged pistons (+0.030" with the correct compression ht) block has already been rebuilt once and is 0.030" over. This 4.0L block does have the drilled bosses that the Eagle uses for the front diff mounting. I have my parts but I need to move the car so I'm just going to swap the head onto the 4.2 for now.
Offenhauser Dual-Port. I was planning on using a spread-bore carb (Holley, Quadrajet, Thermoquad on hand) but I might use a square-bore Demon instead. Once I get the engine tuned properly (wide-band O2) I will likely change to EFI/ECM from later Jeep 4.0L. Presently have HEI one-wire distributor for ignition. Crane RV cam for use with the carb set-up. If poor match to EFI then I'll change it out.
I am going to swap out the 727 with single range TC, for an overdrive/lock-up A/T from a Grand Cherokee 4.0L that I picked up that has a dual range TC with rwd/awd/4wd capability. Eventually I may go with a manual trans from a later model Jeep. Have stainless 6-3-2 headers to try to adapt in. If no-go, then the Jeep 4.0L tube 6-3-1 steel tube manifold.
Addco rear sway bar. Wheels/Tires: I put a set of '98 Grand Cherokee 5x4.5 16x7 ET25.4 wheels (71.6mm hub, ET =Eagle). They have 225/60-16 on them, too tall, changing over to 2008 Dodge Charger 17x7 ET 22 71.6mm center-bore wheels + 205/50-17 (correct Eagle o.d.) winter tires. Pcd of Charger = 5x115; not 114.3. It helps a bit that the Charger uses 14mm wheel studs and the Eagle has 1/2" (12.7mm). I am using 60 degree conical washers fit to the bevel and a flat seat/flat washer lug-nut (1/2-20) fastener onto the conical washer which functions as a pcd variance set-up. The wheels are light and 17" are best suited to what I'll use the car for.

Body: It is a copper metallic color with eggplant color with the oem plastic flares/body-cladding. Ugly. I am not going to paint the whole car so I am just going to change the color of the trim. Probably a Line-X approach in matte black or a dark charcoal.
That is my long saga, but I doubt that I will check in very often to update because I also have 15 other project vehicles that are in progress.
