So I have a completely rebuilt 4.2 shortblock bored .030 over. Can I just put that in my 2001? Will it just "bolt in"? I figured this would be an easy way to have a poor mans stroker.

To build a stroker, you need the 258 Crank in a 4.0 Block.

No....I understand that. I guess what I need to ask is will a 4.2 block bolt in place of a 4.0 with out any modifications? I know I will have to block off the fuel pump area and such, but just curious as I have this pretty, rebuilt 4.2 in my garage begging to go into something. And since my 4.0 is now at 100k miles, I figured I would throw this in if it bolts in. I know people do 4.0 head swaps in older CJ's but I have never heard of anyone doing this.

No it won't bolt in. There many differences between the external mountings for accessories. As well as head an intake bolting up. You only have 100,000 miles on the 4.0L why would you take it out if it doesn't have problems?

That something could be a CJ which you could buy as a project vehicle.
