Yes but the lifter will slowly collapse, allowing the valve to close on ones that are on the crown of the lobe.......but the spring in the lifter should still hold tension on the push rod.

Alright good news i built a new map sensor and what a difference!!! The power gain is huge!! Im still getting a little lag and need to find the sweet spot when i step on the gas hard when the lag is gone it really jumps and takes off. I was up in the 5.75 volts and getting lag in 3rd but now im down to 5.30 volts and getting lag in 1st or 2nd geear. Ill find the sweet spot tomorrow. The ticking is still kinda there but nearly not as much! i may try and gap the plugs to .040" to see if that helps. Give me 24 hours to make up my mind for sure if im satisfied!

Sounds like I need to do the same

is it ok if i run my adj. map sensor off the battery and not a ignition 12v source??

Please find a switched 12 volt for this circuit. Small problems in your computer/sensor circuitry can get big fast.

Well today i made an adj. crank sensor and it didnt fix it. Im still trying to find a good setting on the voltage. When im up in the high 5 volts the engine lungs real bad does that make sense? So im like at 5.15 volts. I really dont know what to say??? haha

If you want to know if its compression/ octane related.........go by 1gallon of 110 unleaded "Racing Fuel" and mix it with a half of a tank.....or less  If the noise go's a way, It's octane related........If not , you may need to look in another direction.
You could put one of those octane boost that are available in parts stores.

Octane boosters work better on 89 octane fuel, then 91 or 93.........would be easier to find and try.

I have really been thinking of doing that! octane booster in my 93 octane fuel. I mean it really cant hurt can it?

It won't hurt a thing..........but how effective on 93..............?
It's worth a try.

Well i put some in and it seems the same.

when i start it up in the morning i kinda knocks and runs rough till it warms up. what could be the problem? Will a header do alot to improve performance??

I have my map sensor adj. to 5.07 volts almost stock. When i go up to the high 5 volts it lugs real bad. I mean i also tried 4.6 volts and it still ran fine. why?

I don't think you should even bother with a header until you have all the other problems sorted out.

You have a tick sound along with a very rough start in the morning? Are they related?

Also, I don't think you mentioned it before, but what year is your TJ?

I have a 2000 Tj. Tonight i tighted up my manifold bolts and they were pretty loose. And it seem to make the ticking go away! We will see what happens tomororw morning. when the motor is cold it just idles really rough but once warmed up it idles fine.

Congrats on the ticking! I would actually torque the manifold bolts downa little higher than stock specs (iirc, 25 ft lbs?). My thorley header calls for 40 ft lbs and with their gasket and some cooper RTV I never had a leak on any of the installs I have done.

As for your idling problem. I think I may know what it is being that is a 2000... does it only do it for a minute or so?

I defintly think that the torque on those manifolds should be higher then what the FSM calls for.

When i do mine again (and im sure i will do many more in the future):

Ill follow FSM procedures to get to stock torque, then go up to 30 ft pounds following the same procedure.
