New guy

Hello
My name is Paul and I've been screwing around with Jeeps for way too long. I have owned a CJ-7 (SBC power),YJ(4.0,home built 4 link conversion),XJ,2 ZJs(1 4.0,1 5.2) and now finally a WJ. So Ive been there ,done that with Jeeps.

My WJ is my family cruiser (wife ,2 kids, dumb dog) so I needed something with some room. BUT, the can't leave it alone bug bit so I built a 5" long arm lift to hold the new JK axles in place (a hell of a deal...3000 for 2 D44 with lockers ,4.10 gears). I was hoping the gear change would liven the motor a little but it still needs help.

SO I considered options:
4.7 swap-might as well buy a new Jeep and start over.Besides, not too impressed with the one I had in a Dakota.

Chevy LS series swap-YE HA ! Lets haul ass! I know I could get it running, but that is probably all it would do . AC, cruise control, tach, and all that "extra stuff'" that my wife and kids think is required for a car to have would be a bugger to finish up and make perfect.

GIVE UP- this is the easiest option

Build a stroker-makes a lot of sense financially and power wise. Besides, it is something different.

I've been watching Silver XJ (KB944 build) and bratcop (another WJ). Still trying to decide on 4.0 vs 4.2 rods. I work in a machine tool shop (we build crank shaft machinery) so I can dish my own pistons if I go short rod route. But in theory , the longer the rod the better (how many times have you heard that?).

Anyway ,enough rambling. This website is the reason I'm going to go to stroker route. My wife thanks you for the money I'm going to spend on a Jeep that runs "just fine" now.

Great statement!! That probably sums up most of our relationships with our significant others!

Anyway, welcome to the forums Paul!
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
