anyone running a custom / aftermarket fuel rail?

I am having issues with my fuel pressure and AFR when restarting the hot engine, after it sits for a few minutes or so. It runs about 10lbs low and about 2.0 points lean until the boiled fuel works it's way out of the rail.

I am thinking a flow-through fuel rail to help keep the fuel in the rail cool and to flush out any boiled fuel right at startup.

Is anyone aware of an aftermarket fuel rail?

Has anyone made their own?

I found some blank rail from FAST. Seems easy enough to make some with some careful layout and sharp bits/endmills.

i have not yet, but have considered it with the years of use mine has seen. I was considering a billet but have not researched any maker of it yet.

Had a Crispin and not thinking as clear after a long day. So your running 10lbs light on the fuel pressure line and then 2 points on the AFR if i got that right… Have you tried a heat shield on the rail?

Flow through fuel rail - don't know about it yet - but researching it.

Where is it getting so hot from and isn't it winter where you are? Is the engine in a normal temp range when you shut off? Do we know that it's a fuel line/feed issue?

just to kick some ideas around...what about modifying your existing rail or another rail to flow through and regulate it just after the rail?

I haven't seen an aftermarket rail in use on a 4.0L.

I hate to ask, but what is a Crispin?

Yeah, it is winter, but it isn't all that cold.

thought about it, but don't fully feel comfortable with modifying the sheet metal rail. Also figured an extruded rail will look alot nicer, as it will allow for easier use of A/N fitings. :hrhr: I already have the regulator for it:

Also saw a few ideas to try for combating the heatsoak in THIS THREAD on NAXJA. The MS3Pro has an option for allowing the fan to run, even after shutting off the engine, so I enabled that to see if it helps.

Clean plumbing Power. I would love more information and pictures on FP mounting. Who makes the fuel rail disco fittings? I am doing a 87-98 Comanche with stroker and want to retain stock fuel system. After hearing of heat soak problems with later model single line rails, I to have contemplated a flow through rail. If a renix rail would fit it would make it an easy mod, but I have heard it doesn't fit the later manifolds.

The PR is just kinda hanging there, with the aide of a few zip-ties, , for now. My entire shop is in limbo until the summer, so it will be this way until then.

The fittings I stumbles on in either Jegs or Summit. They are to blame for the entire A/N fuel line plumbing-- amazing how a few cool parts can end up costing me over $300, just so I can use them. :roll:

I have heard of some folks plumbing the return line out the schrader valve, which on some 4.0 rails is back near the #6 injector.

I still want to go with a custom billet rail, if only to compliment the excising A/N fittings. 8-)

Yeah, I have the same ailment when it comes to hi-tech bling. You wouldn't have the part numbers for the fuel line fittings by ant chance? I was planning on using a PR from stroked jeep or hesco, but your fuel system has me rethinking things. I have a buddy that builds race engines building me a stroker and he wants the system diled in before I install his engine so it will start immediately to break in the cam. How did you bypass the rail mounted PR?

They are Russell Push-On EFI Fittings. Summit PN- 644120

I had a HESCO regulator, but chose to upgrade to this regulator.

All you need to do to bypass the OEM regulator is remove the small O-ring and nylon spacer and reinstall the regulator. The PR is then plumbed into the return line.

I love aluminum bling too.
Sounds like we need to start a support group. :)

Thanks so much for the info. I plan to do pretty much what you have done but I may use a late model single fitting rail or adapt a modified renix rail and mount the PR to the inner fender. I found out that the renix rail has the mounting tabs in the wrong position but the injectors line up. As you stated, fuel flowing through the rail and regulated after the return fitting has it's advantages. As for groop therapy, I know I'm beyond help. I have 3 Comanches and a Hemi WK.

I have an aftermarket fuelrail on my twinturbo engine.
You can see the setup on my project thread and in the picture you see the fuelrail.
The fuelrail get the fuel from an Aeromotive A1000 pump with a catch fueltank and a filter.
So I have two fuellines and two fuelpumps the A1000 pump only pumps fuel from the catchtank thru the fuelrail and back in the catchtank with 3 bars pressure and the other only keep the catchtank full and have 1 bar pressure on the return line too the cars fueltank.
