if this xj went 13.6 on a 4.0l without nitrous then i got some serious regrouping to do with my stroker...maybe i will go back to a 4.0l...the best me or my brothers xjs with 4.0ls could get was 14.8 and his was 14.6 on motor with full bolt ons with good air with lighter wieght 2wd xjs...and we have been racing at the track for years...and that was with 26x10.5 et street slicks...this n/a green 4.0l xj got my n/a 4.7 by a little bit apparantly...now that time slip looks simalar to a a old slip i had with a bolt on 4.0 and a 75hp wet shot back in 04

yes its on spray...its running way rich (10.3-10.6:1) with a cracked header, and open diff on old 235s.
no traction. Im trying to get a LSD as we speak. that will greatly drop the times....Im also strongly considering converting to 2wd and going all out. I found a set of 3.92s with LSD that would really open this beast up. honestly push it much closer to the 12s.

converting to 2wd would shed a lot of weight..should knock off a couple tenths..cool xj ..makes me want two find a two door to build..

yea, right now its all traction. ive got room to make more power with the tune, afrs, and the header and pulling weight can give me an extra 2-3 tenths, but right now im just gonna see how close traction will get me. Im hoping to pull a half a sec off this week just by running it in 4wd. if I pull off a bunch of time on the 1/8th then it will be an indicator of how much I can shoot for. if I pull between a 12.8-13.1 with nothing but 4wd then I will probably go with the 2wd locked rear and shoot for the 11s. if I only pull 13.3-13.5 then Ill just tighten up some loose ends and give up around 12.9-13.0 Ill either end up with a DD-able 11s 2wd or and offroadable 13s 4wd. but getting rid of the 4wd isnt worth it being in the high 12s.

the jeep is starting to get VERY popular so if you guys know of anyone interested in sponsoring let me know.

1.95 60 ft, 13.64 et @ 100 mph :rockout:
I'd say your 60 ft and 1/4 mile times and MPH are are fairly well matched. My '66 Buick has run nearly identical times to what you did, but my 60 ft times were a few hundredths slower due to traction issues.

For you to make significant improvement, you need more hp and get it to the ground. I'm guessing you'll add more nitrous for the hp if you can get it to hook up?
Curious to hear how you do running in 4wd. You'll have more hp loss in the drivetrain, but traction should improve. It'll be interesting.
Another option is to leave it 2wd, but do the usual drag mods like traction bars and optimize spring/shock selection for weight transfer.
Have fun and keep us posted!

well if my 60ft, and 1/8th improve drastically with the 4wd then I will go with the needed 2wd improvements and shoot for 11s. however if it doesnt make much of a difference then im just gonna finish ironing the kinks out and give up around 13.0-13.2 im having to feather the throttle to at least the 330ft. which is why the 4wd should help.

Im also considering dropping the wheel size by an inch to help give more torque and help with the power range on the back half.

well I dropped the 60ft down to 1.8s and the ET down to 13.4 the only thing I did was put it in 4wd. it is still spinning ALL 4! I need traction, on top of a tune, I also think my stock 355s are hurting me too.

That's impressive.
20 years ago, wow I can't believe it has been that long already, My Syclone with a few engine bolt-ons would do 1.6sec 60', 13.1sec, 99.5mph. Then the dealer blew it up.
Then after it was built, it would lift the drivers front tire an inch off the ground, 0-60 in 3-3.5sec, 11.7sec. then it got stolen.

my first pass ever I went 14.7 now im running 13.4 with NO mechanical changes whatsoever. only the fact that i had to learn the difference between street and track. I think that with a couple more passes it will go 13.3s with a stronger launch and faster shifts.

I have also got a friend of mine that is claiming to let me have a set of wheels that will change my effective final drive from 3.55 to 3.76, along with being another size wider, possibly lighter, and a much better rubber compound. that should give me the low 13sec pass im looking for. then I need to decide what I want to do after that. either leave it alone with low 13s and sort out all the tuning bugs and settle for high 12.9s next year. OR go 2wd, lightweight, regear, and not stop til im blowing up a 4.0 every weekend. hopefully somewhere in the low 11s.

IF I go the second route, I should be able to run a high 13s pass off spray, which would be even MORE fun on the street being close to as fast as I am now, but without needing to fill-up all the time.

I have no plan to do a stroker. I dont really see how you a running the n2o motor to be honest. most of the strokers are running 14.6-15.1 and xjs on spray run a full second faster.
but to answer your question, no, I plan on having a full bolt-on motor. and running 2x100 shots into dual throttle bodies. 200 shot should run good. might go clear to 250 on race days. at 200-250 im straining these motors, so the plan is to keep rebuilds cheap. like the guys here running 14.8s with $4k in the motor or Ill go high 12s with a $300 nitrous kit and $50 junkyard motors. the way I see it, it wont matter if it blows up, since all my $ is in the boltons which will be reusable in the event of motor failure.
