1.7 YT roller rockers AND a cam?

Post by BloodOfAnAkrobat »

I have an 01 XI that's I'm going to put the 1.7 YT RR into tomorrow, which I'm really excited about!
but my question is, what are opinions on a cam that would compliment the RR? I know that they do not make ones with newer style retainer plate cams, but if I were to some how convert one, what would be best?

thanks

http://www.jonescams.com/ Mike Jones will custom grind you a cam for the retaining plate.

The Jones cam is 204*I/208*E and 0.472"I/0.478"E with 1.6:1 rockers becomes 0.5015"I/0.5079"E with 1.7:1 roller rockers.
Valve spring choice might be a problem.

The Jones cam is whatever you want it to be within the limitations of the blank. Its not just one cam as it is a custom grind.

Call him up and tell him what you are looking for in a cam. I would recommend going a bit more duration than stock if you want some more top end, but not a whole lot. Tell him that he did a cam a while ago for a Jeep I6 that had a retaining plate. He should know what you are talking about.

For lifters I recommend going with Johnson/Hylift lifters irregardless of what cam you go with. PN 2011
