Re: new here
Run the ported 7120 head, flat top pistons, .43 head gasket, stroked, get that compression way up their. Big crazy cam. No turbo, no super, no nitros, all motor. duel exhaust header 2-1/2 pipe on both. Run the 727 torqueflite auto with manual valve body. I think that tranny would work.

Re: new here
Sounds like a good build concept, have you talked to the fellows at Clifford performance, if not you might check them out, you are singing their song. You might want to reconsider 2.5" dia. exhaust for the duals. You could make more power going with a smaller size on that set up.

to build a stroker engine for a Rambler drag race car.....so I will be checking back here often for ideas........
I really like forums over e-mail......and I did vote for this site....

idrambler, this post is vary exciting to me, keep us posted on you progress.
Just throwing out some of my thoughts
They don't live at a high rpm so your plan should be a eng that's a strong mid range pull.
as far as quench go's the rule of thumb is .045"............ Since these 4.0/stroker don't rev high........I real thing you could bring the quench down even more then .045"............You will need to get people opinion that know much more then I.
I thing .045" is a safe number and sence these will not be turning much over 5,000 it may be able to run with a tighter quench......Maybe not, but something you might want to look into more.
Hesco ALU head might be a good option too.
As was said above, you need to get to know Clifford performance, I think they could help you out a lot.
727 trannys are strong. plenty of tuff aftermarket stuff from them also.
Are you trying to make this a all out drag car, our just a steet car that you can have fun at the drags with.

Re: new here
what quarter mile times would be realistic for an extreme build? HP? blown? nitrous?

Re: new here
any et would be possible with a light enough chassis, I think your question really is what extreme builds are possible.
there is a set limit on what a production block can handle before coming apart, and with the flow characteristics of the head you may not even be able to make that.
didn't hesco get somewhere around 750hp? or did I just pull that out of my ass?
