I really enjoyed driving it. It hasnt been on the road since May of last year, but Im getting ready to replace the transmission so itll see some more road time. Mines a 5spd, so it came with 3.07 gears. When I replaced that axle with one out of an auto it was like a real25hp gain at least. Not 25 cold air intake hp. HP stayed the same with the gear swap, but it made it a heck of a lot quicker. I havent been to the strip since i created the need to replace the rear axle last year, and probly wont until after the stroker is in. Im hoping for low 15s, maybe high 14s.

In the beginning she looked like this.......

Then a nasty mud hole took out the 4.0 so I put in a 4.7......

so, out with the old

and in with the new

Then with the help of some cut off wheels.....

Then I went to help a friend get his XJ out of one nasty mud hole and I exploded the carrier of the crap 35 so once again she went under the knife....

Now I have her back to finish all the little stuff..........

One day I should have her finished.

Thats one big ass jeep. I'm guessing when you blew up your old axel you replaced both front and rear with a 60 front/14 bolt rear? Defiantly a good looking jeep. How do the cops feel about your setup?

Thanks, her nickname is "FatBastard" The rear is also a Dana 60 and I don't know how the cops will be due to I'm not finished with her yet, But I do know that a buddy of mine has had no problem (knock on wood) with his with the same set up.

WOW, I just noticed the wear on the tires from 9/06 to 3/07. I guess the rumor of poor on road tire wear is true. If I was going through the mud pits you go through, I'd suffer with the tire wear also. NICE JEEP!

Everybody's been show their Jeeps. I thought I'd change it up a bit. Here's the HO throttle body that's going on my stroker. Originally I planned on using the RENIX system but changed my mind and am going OBDI (It's going in a '94 YJ 2.5L and most of the OBDI system is the same between 2.5 & 4.0). I've machined several RENIX TB's to 61mm, but this is my first HO TB (62mm). I was thinking about 63mm, but it would have left the walls a little thinner than I was comfortable with. I'm also kicking around the idea of making a 68-70mm billet TB and tossing in the classified section or ebay, as the HO TB isn't really all that complex to make. I could definitely beat the $500+ price I saw on the internet. It probably will never happen though, but maybe some day. Anyway here are the pics, they would be better if my cell phone had a flash. Just previewed it, no flash necessary.

Nice work Oletshot. If you ever want to get serious about that custom throttle body, I would like to talk to you about one with the same internal step profile at the butterfly, with the lower portion being 62mm, same angle between major and minor internal dimensions as OEM. Enlarging one to a straight through bore causes me to miss the off idle control that is provided in the factory profile. But it is a wot fiend! Just talking factory profiles....Bigger brother!

Interesting concept, factory TB's big brother. I wasn't sure about the HUGE bore's demand as cheromaniac pointed out that pedal responce is very touchy at 65mm, but that has the best of both worlds. I wish I would have documented the factory bottle neck before machining it, although I do still have a virgin TB on my xj. If only I had more free time.

If you had the travel at the pedal, you could try a longer lever on the TB.

Yes, that helps, but I still suspect the flow characteristics will be better for this build. Off road only YJ setup for low end torque. Butterfly opens a lot more flow area for any distance traveled when it is sewer pipe sized, then the loss of velocity........

No I am satisfied with the OBD1 setup, and if you are willing to consider it, I will do some modeling on my laptop. I just got to thinking about this when I saw your thoughts on billet machining one, I will do some calcs on size.

It's an old school jeep. She is 36 years old and been raced 34 of them. 280 c.i., stock valves, ported head, home made intake, under .500 lift cam.
