Mopar 4.7 Stroker
Here is a quote fron the Mopar Performance press release for SEMA
"Mopar will also introduce a new 4.7-liter I-6 Stroker long block, a powerful upgrade for the 4.0-liter I-6 made famous in Jeep vehicles built from 1991-2006. Because off-road enthusiasts appreciated the dependability and performance of the previous 4.0-liter engine, Mopar developed a more powerful engine that delivers an expected 265 hp and 290 lb.-ft of torque. The engine will fit in any Jeep vehicle previously equipped with the 4.0-liter I-6 engine."
Looking at the 4.7 recipe on Dino's site, he suggests different injectors and a larger Throttle body and projects 275 HP vs 265 quoted for the Mopar. I wonder if the engine will come with a reflashed PCM? Anybody going to SEMA that could drop by the Mopar booth and get mor info? I would guess that they would have to be emissions compliant, or maybe they are selling it for "off road use only"

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
Went to the ATK website, their warrenty was for one year 12,000 miles. So
if the Mopar 4.7 strooker is 3 years 36,000 miles, is it worth the extra $$$.

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
Like Tommy Boy said, "...they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of shit. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time.". My Titan had a warranty too.
At the price they are asking I doubt they will sell many of them, especially to a customer that does his research.

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
So does $4700 get forged or cast? Stage 1 or 2 cam? If i got forged piston for $4700 and a warranty that price would be toooooo bad.Plechtan wrote:The 4.7 From Chrysler is $4690.00 and the part number is P5155210.

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
For that money I'd rather have HESCO build me a stroker at least I'd know they'll stand behind it.
Mopar's Marked up the ATK by $1800 dollars (comparing retail prices) if you adjust this for the large wholesale volume discount Mopar gets from ATK then it's probably about a 60% markup... Talk about bending people over...
$1800 dollars is a steep price to pay for an extended warranty. Another $900 and you could have two strokers with 1 year 12,000 mile warranties.

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
Interesting.. I wonder what injectors they recommend. I also find it interesting that they use a HV oil pump.

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
Regardless of what Mopar put into their 4.7 stroker, they should have done a lot better than a mere 290lbft of torque at the crank for $4.7k.

Re: Mopar 4.7 Stroker
Isn't 290 what the 4.7l v8 came with a few years ago? Isn't that reasonable for an engine with a warranty?Cheromaniac wrote:Regardless of what Mopar put into their 4.7 stroker, they should have done a lot better than a mere 290lbft of torque at the crank for $4.7k.
If you want maximum power you can always fit an even bigger v8 in there!
